Former Coastal Carolina offensive lineman Chad Hamilton signed as an undrafted free agent with the Bears in the spring, but was unable to stay healthy.

Hamilton, who was a consensus All-American in 2014, decided to retire on Thursday before the Bears took the field for their second day of training camp.

The 6-foot-2, 292-pound offensive lineman, who was expected to compete for a starting spot on the Bears offensive line, helped the Chanticleers to the best fourth down conversions in the country last season.

No indication on what is next for Hamilton.
