KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Shea McClellin left Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with what appeared to be a left knee injury. He walked off the field but was carted to the locker room.
He will not return.
McClellin was injured on the first offensive play of the second half. When tackling the Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles, he was hit by a pile of players. He was replaced by LaRoy Reynolds, who was signed less than two weeks ago.
In the final year of his contract, McClellin had been solid in his first season at inside linebacker, the third position he’d played in as many years. He played defensive end as a pro until moving to outside linebacker last season and then inside in Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense.
