Bears still have less than a 1 percent chance to win NFC North

Despite back-to-back road wins for the Bears, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up regarding Chicago’s chances in the NFC North.

According to statistics site numberFire, the Bears still have less than a one percent chance at winning their first division crown since 2010.

The Bears currently sit three games off the division lead, held by the surprising 7-2 Vikings.

The good news from Chicago’s perspective is that the toughest part of Minnesota’s schedule is still ahead. The Vikings’ next seven opponents are a combined 38-26.

The Packers’ recent slide has also helped. Green Bay was 6-0 before losing three-consecutive games. They’ll face the Vikings in Minnesota on Sunday.

Chicago’s schedule actually sets up pretty favorably. After games against the Broncos (sans Peyton Manning) and Packers, the Bears’ final five opponents are a combined 20-25.

Legendary coach Mike Ditka believed in the Bears even before Sunday’s win in St. Louis.

Ditka said last week he believes Chicago still has a shot at winning the NFC North.

“They’re in a position in their division where it’s takable,” Ditka said. “It really is. Green Bay is struggling a bit; people have finally found a solution to them. You pressure a great quarterback, and he’s not as good. Minnesota is playing outstanding. But then again, you know what you have to do when you play them. Detroit? I don’t know where they’re at. The Bears are right in position, but they have to keep their nose to the grind stone.”
