The Bears will monitor outside linebacker Pernell McPhee during their light practice Tuesday and walk-through Wednesday — and during his work with their training staff —before deciding whether he can play Thursday against the Packers.
McPhee, who underwent offseason knee surgery, practiced Friday, his first day back from the physically unable to perform list.
The team must activate him within a 21-day window to play games or place him on injured reserve for the rest of the year.
Coach John Fox said he’ll look for the basics.
“Basically how he functions, how he practices,” Fox said.
McPhee, a captain, would likely see limited snaps if he returns; before Friday, he had not practiced during the offseason program, training camp or regular season.
