Billy Williams, Bill Murray part of historic World Series Game 3

For the first time since 1945, the World Series returns to Wrigley Field and Cubs fans will be delighted with the celebrities welcoming back the big show.

Hall of Famer Billy Williams will deliver the ceremonial first pitch and actor/comedian/Cubs fan Bill Murray will handle the singing duties for the seventh-inning stretch.

Chicago native Patrick Stump — a member of the rock band Fall Out Boy — will sing the national anthem tonight. And Wrigley fixture Wayne Messmer will sing “God Bless America” during pregame activities.

The pregame ceremonies will also include an on-field presentation of the Roberto Clemente Award by Major League Baseball. The award honors Clemente’s achievements and character by recognizing current players — nominated by each team — who embody those values.

The ball Williams will use for the ceremonial first pitch will be delivered to the mound by Anthony Velazquez, 17, from the Miguel A. Barreto Branch of Union League Boys & Girls Club in Chicago. Former Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee will join Williams and Velazquez on the mound for the ceremony.

First pitch for the game between the Indians and Cubs is scheduled for 7:08 p.m.
