Blackhawks suffer worst loss since 2013

It’s been a while since the Blackhawks have been beaten this soundly.

Chicago’s 5-0 loss at Carolina Tuesday night was its worst defeat since a 7-2 loss at Nashville on Nov. 16, 2013.

The Hurricanes took a 3-0 lead before the end of the first period and led 5-0 after two.

Scott Darling took Corey Crawford’s place in net prior to the start of the second period and allowed a pair of goals to Joakim Nordstrom and Riley Nash:

Following a 12-game win streak, Chicago has now been shutout twice in three games and outscored 11-1 in its past three road games. The Blackhawks have lost three of their past four and were swept by Carolina this season.

Following the All-Star break, Chicago will head west for a three-game road trip at Colorado, Arizona and Dallas.
