Before the Cubs played the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, they announced their 2016 opening day series opponent. The Cubs will start the 2016 season against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Cubs have only played the Angels seven times since 2013, and Los Angeles has won four of the last seven games.

The Cubs-Angels series will be the last opening day game, and they won’t play until April 5.

Other National League Central teams have interesting opening day opponent. The St. Louis Cardinals play the Pittsburgh Pirates, and they haven’t played each other on opening day in 39 seasons.
