The Cubs knew they would be playing Game 3 against the Cardinals, they knew it would be at Wrigley Field. They didn’t, however, know what time the game would be.
Game time wasn’t set for the NLDS matchup until Sunday night, after the Blue Jays and Rangers game. With the Blue Jays winning, the Cubs will start at 5:07 p.m. Monday night.

Had the Rangers won, the game would have started shortly after 3:30.
While the game time likely wouldn’t change the thousands of fans with tickets to Game 3, it does slightly help fans watching on TV. Fans stuck at work will likely only miss a small portion of the game instead of the majority, had it started earlier.
Cubs fans heading to Wrigley Field may want to leave a little earlier. The combination of a Cubs playoff game mixed with Chicago traffic could have ugly consequences.
