Future Hall of Fame shortstop Nomar Garciaparra once headlined a trade deadline when the Cubs traded for him in 2004.

Garciaparra hit .297 with four home runs and 20 RBI during 43 games with the Cubs in 2004.

The Cubs finished third in the National League Central that season and missed the playoffs. The Cubs never had success with the former Red Sox star and didn’t re-sign Garciaparra after the 2005 season.
