The Bears will promote Mark Sadowski to director of college scouting to replace Joe Douglas, who is set to join the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a league source.

Douglas was hired by the Eagles to oversee their scouting department. The Eagles are expected to announce Douglas’ addition soon.

The Bears could’ve blocked Douglas from leaving, but it’s not considered a lateral move with Douglas essentially the second in command to Howie Roseman, the Eagles’ executive vice president of football operations.

Douglas spent one season with the Bears after being a scout for the Ravens for 15 seasons.

Sadowski has spent 10 seasons with the Bears and was the team’s senior national scout last year.

He has 17 years of NFL scouting experience. Sadowski joined the Bears in 2005 as the all-important Southeast area scout under former general manager Jerry Angelo.
