It’s for reasons like this baseball is no longer our national pastime. Hostess kicked off MLB’s Opening Day with a Twitter message that sailed out of bounds.

Or did it? The message quickly went viral and shot up the trending lists.

Maybe the mixed metaphor is contrived marketing genius. Think about it. When you hear “baseball,” usually it’s followed by “hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.” Now, the mention of “baseball” will quite likely conjure up images of Zingers, Ding Dongs and Twinkies. Home run!
