Jay Cutler shows toughness in preseason against Colts

The predetermined notion that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is soft was put to the test in the first quarter against the Indianapolis Colts.

Cutler didn’t have any fear rolling outside the pocket and scrambling for first downs. During the third drive at Lucas Oil Stadium, Cutler rushed twice for 25 yards. But on the second scramble, Cutler showed some serious toughness.

On a third and 13, Cutler scrambled down the sideline and barreled over Colts corner Greg Toler for a 12-yard gain. Cutler lost his helmet after the contact.

The play was neglected by a holding plenty on Bears guard Kyle Long.

Cutler ran over the Colts defensive back so hard that Toler suffered a neck injury on the play and wouldn’t return to the game.
