Report: UIC hires Indiana assistant as coach

ESPN reported UIC has hired Indiana assistant Steve McClain to be its next coach. An official announcement will be made Wednesday, the network reported.

The Flames fired Howard Moore on March 10 after five seasons. Moore compiled a 49-111 record during his tenure.

McClain, 52, has been an assistant to Hoosiers coach Tom Crean for the last five seasons. He was the coach at Wyoming for nine seasons (1998-99 to 2006-07), compiling a 157-115 record and reaching the round of 32 of the NCAA tournament in 2002.
