The first appearance NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will make since the Deflategate trial is on Sunday in Chicago.

Goodell said on the Mike and Mike radio show he will be in attendance for the Bears season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

I try to get around to as many stadiums, Goodell said.

The NFL commissioner didn’t want to attend the NFL season opener in Foxborro on Thursday because he attended the last two New England Patriots home games. And Goodell said he doesn’t want to be a distraction.

The focus should be on football, and it should be a great night on Thursday night, Goodell said.

Instead of watching the Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers, Goodell will see a division rival matchup.

I’m going to a classic NFL game to start the season between the Packers and the Bears, and I’m looking forward to it.

The NFL recently agreed to host the NFL Draft in Chicago for the second consecutive year.
