The Stars misspelled Antti Niemi’s name on his jersey

When former Blackhawks goalie Antti Niemi skated onto the ice for warmups prior to Tuesday night’s game in Buffalo, the Stars goaltender did so with his name misspelled on the back of his jersey.

Dallas’ equipment crew mistakenly spelled the Finnish player’s name “Nieme.”

Fortunately, the Stars caught the gaffe, and Niemi had a jersey displaying the correct spelling by game time.

Niemi played 39 games for the Blackhawks in 2010, compiling a 26-7-4 record. He was named the team’s postseason starter late in the year and eventually became the first Finnish goaltender to lead his team to a Stanley Cup.
