The reason why it’s so hard to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in a playoff series is because they can get big-time production from nearly anyone on their roster.

In Saturday’s NLDS matchup with the Cubs, Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter took use of the big stage that is the playoffs to get the Cards an early lead.

Carpenter smashed an 87-mph fastball from Kyle Hendricks, sending his 6th career postseason home run into the stands.

With one win already in the books for St. Louis, a win on Saturday would give the club a commanding lead over the young Cubs.
