BOURBONNAIS — The Chicago Sun-Times’ Adam L. Jahns, Patrick Finley and Mark Potash break down the 11th practice (and 13th day overall) of Bears training camp at Olivet Nazarene University:
Jay for the win
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler closed out the Bourbonnais portion of training camp with a laser. During situational drills, Cutler bought time in the pocket before rifling a touchdown to receiver Deonte Thompson between defensive backs Adrian Amos and Sherrick McManis in the back of the end zone. It was the final play at Olivet Nazarene University this year. … Rookie receiver Daniel Braverman wrapped up a stellar camp by catching a pass over the middle in the red zone and enduring a helmet-to-helmet hit from rookie safety Deon Bush. … Dropped passes continue to mar the tight-end competition. Rob Housler had an ugly one in the end zone. Quarterback Brian Hoyer hit him right in the numbers.

Kevin White flashed his athleticism when he caught a screen pass last and doubled back across the field, scoring a “touchdown” with Jay Cutler wisely not blocking in front. … Speedster Kieren Duncan, listed generously at 5-11, 175, made the play of the day, running past safety Demontre Hurst and catching a 65-yard deep ball from Connor Shaw. Alas, it was called back because of a pre-snap penalty. … Braverman was perhaps the fan favorite in Bourbonnais; Tuesday, a man screamed “Put Braverman on the first team!” … Guard Amini Silatolu appears to struggling to regain his timing. The former Panther, who’s started 28 games, returned from ACL surgery and practiced for the first time Thursday.

Player to watch
With Eddie Royal and Zach Miller out and Alshon Jeffery limited, wide receiver Deonte Thompson continues to make an impression as a target for Jay Cutler. Cutler hit Thompson vs. coverage from Tracy Porter early in practice, and with a dart for a touchdown to end it. … Brian Hoyer also connected with Thompson on a crossing route. … Miller, still recovering from a concussion, at least was able to throw passes to the other tight ends in drills. He’s a former college quarterback. … Rookie Kieren Duncan showed off his 4.32 speed in a kickoff return drill. … Defensive end Keith Browner continues to make the most of his reps. … A communications breakdown left Marc Mariani wide open for a short touchdown pass from Cutler. … Tight end Khari Lee made a reaching grab of a Connor Shaw pass in the end zone for a touchdown.
Up next: Preseason opener vs. the Denver Broncos at Soldier Field, 7 p.m. Thursday on Fox-32.
