The White Sox joined the Cardinals, Orioles, Phillies, Rockies, Tigers and Twins by committing to retaining employees with salary and benefits at least through June.
The Sox will evaluate again next month as teams navigate through the coronavirus shutdown. Some teams, including the Cubs, are instituting pay cuts.
“Some employees workloads will change due to work demand, but none will be laid off,” Sox spokesman Scott Reifert said via text message.
“Financial situations, benefits, insurance etc. will not change.”
Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, the principal owner of the Sox and Bulls, has a time-honored history of loyalty to his employees.
“We are really lucky to have Jerry Reinsdorf as our owner,” one Sox coach said Thursday.
