The White Sox finally get their chance to try to break out as a big league contender with the start of the 2020 season Friday night. The Twins are in town for a season-opening three-game series before the Sox hit the road as part of a hectic 60-game, 66-day schedule.

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the talented South Siders entering the season. The lineup could be one of the league’s best with super prospect Luis Robert and veterans Edwin Encarnacion and Yasmani Grandal joining a lineup that already included several good hitters. The rotation, while an uncertainty, has Lucas Giolito coming off a breakout season and veteran lefty Dallas Keuchel to bring stability.

So Sox fans have a lot of reasons to tune in, even if they won’t be allowed at Guaranteed Rate Field.

This year, NBC Sports Chicago takes over as the lone home of White Sox game coverage, so they’ll be airing nearly every game this season. The only exceptions are a few nationally televised games in August and September, including the Field of Dreams matchup against the Cardinals on Aug. 13.

Here’s more on the White Sox’ TV schedule and how to tune in this year.

How can I get NBC Sports Chicago?

Long a home for White Sox coverage, NBC Sports Chicago becomes the exclusive local broadcaster for their games this year as part of the shakeup that saw the Cubs move to Marquee Sports Network.

All of the city’s large cable providers – Comcast Xfinity, DirecTV and RCN – offer NBC Sports Chicago, but the network has also embraced several streaming services as a way to get cord-cutting fans access.

If you’re not interested in signing up for cable, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV and fuboTV all include NBC Sports Chicago as part of streaming packages. Each one costs between $55-65 per month. (And if you’re looking for Cubs games, too, Hulu + Live TV also includes Marquee.)
