The White Sox recalled first baseman Gavin Sheets from Triple-A Charlotte, inserted him into the lineup in right field, and reinstated outfielder Billy Hamilton from the injured list Tuesday.

To make room on the roster, outfielder Jake Lamb was placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 28) with a strained right quadriceps and outfielder Luis González was optioned to Charlotte.

Sheets will bat seventh in the lineup Tuesday against the Twins, which does not include Yoan Moncada, who is nursing a sore right shoulder. Leury Garcia will play third base.

The left-handed Sheets, 25, has also seen action in the outfield at Charlotte, where he was batting .292/.352/.472 with seven homers, eight doubles, 33 RBI and 23 runs scored over 41 games. He has played in 26 games at first base, 15 in right field and two in left.

Sheets, a 2017 Sox second-round draft pick and the son of former major leaguer Larry Sheets, was with the Sox on June 3 and 4 but did not play.

Hamilton has been on the IL since June 6 with a strained right oblique. He is batting .217/.246/.406 with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 10 RBI, 13 runs scored and five stolen bases.

Lamb was batting .224/.333/.424 with five home runs and 10 RBI in 31 games. He appeared to favor his leg after making a running catch in left field in a game against the Mariners Sunday at Guaranteed Rate Field, although it’s not immediately known when the injury occurred.

Here is the Sox lineup Tuesday:

Tim Anderson SS

Brian Goodwin CF

Jose Abreu 1B

Yasmani Grandal DH

Zack Collins C

Andrew Vaughn LF

Gavin Sheets RF

Leury Garcia 3B

Danny Mendick 2B
