Man shot and killed in West Englewood

A man was fatally shot Saturday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

About 8 p.m., 26-year-old Matthew Hudson was found on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the back in the 2300 block of West 72nd, according to Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Hudson was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where later died, authorities said. He lived several blocks away from the shooting in the Ashburn neighborhood.

Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
