A 23-year-old man was shot and killed outside his home late Tuesday in northwest Indiana.

About 11:10 p.m., authorities responded to the 1300 block of Liberty Court in Hammond and found Quinten Kendrick-Taylor lying on the ground a short distance from his home, according to Hammond police Lt. Steven Kellogg.

He had at least one gunshot wound in his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, Kellogg said. The Lake County coroner’s office ruled the death a homicide.

Social media posts indicate Taylor may have been involved in a dispute with another person just prior to the shooting, Kellogg said.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident, but are unsure if it was gang-related, he said.

Kellogg asked anyone with information about the shooting to call Hammond police detective Sgt. James Onohan at 219-852-2997.
