Westbound lanes of Interstate 290 just before Interstate 390 were closed around 8 a.m. and reopened about 40 minutes later, Illinois state police said.
Police are increasing their presence in some North Side neighborhoods Monday night after a string of robberies they believe are connected, according to Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th).
The 12 and 14-year-old boys were in a car in the 7800 block of South Escanaba Avenue about 1:43 p.m. when a black sedan started to chase them and someone in the vehicle fired shots at them, police said. One boy is hospitalized in serious condition; the other in good condition.
Brandon Taylor, 32, of Lombard faces a felony charge of reckless discharge of a firearm, authorities say. No one was injured in the incident.
Firefighters responded to the scene at 9239 W. 159 St. and found a car had crashed through the business’ south wall. The driver then backed into the parking lot and hit multiple parked vehicles, officials said.
The 40-year-old man was inside the store in the 6300 block of South Ashland Avenue when a person approached him, pulled out a gun and shot him, hitting him in the head, police said.
Tomica Goodwyn, 50, was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds in a home in the 8100 block of South Cornell Avenue on Friday, police said. Her death has been ruled a homicide. A man was found with a gunshot wound. His death has been ruled a suicide.
