Man killed in Little Village shooting

Miguel Rios, 18, was shot in the armpit while driving and crashed the vehicle into a tree in the 2600 block of West 24th Street, authorities said. He died at the scene.

A man was shot to death while driving Saturday in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

The 18-year-old was driving south on Washtenaw Avenue at 3:28 a.m. when someone shot at him, according to Chicago police. He was struck in the armpit and crashed the vehicle into a tree in the 2600 block of West 24th Street.

The man, identified as Miguel A. Rios, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Gage Park.

An autopsy conducted Sunday confirmed the Rios died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
