Police: 2 killed, 7 wounded in citywide violence Thursday

A man was killed and seven others were wounded in shootings across Chicago Thursday, in addition to a man who was fatally stabbed on the South Side, police said.

The fatal shooting, a possible drive-by attack, happened in West Englewood, leaving one man dead and another wounded.

About 7:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 72nd Street, an 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Stanley Bobo, who lived in the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at Christ Medical Center at 9:23 p.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An 18-year-old shot in the wrist was taken to the same hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

The stabbing happened about 6 p.m. during a domestic incident at a Grand Boulevard neighborhood home.

The 44-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in the 300 block of East 48th and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

“All parties involved” in the stabbing remained at the scene but no charges were pending as of 9:30 p.m., police said.

Four teenagers were wounded in two separate shootings that happened within a two-block stretch of the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

About 6:40 p.m., someone in a passing white van opened fire on three teens in the 800 block of North St. Louis, police said.

A 16-year-old boy shot in the thigh was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, and a 14-year-old girl shot in the leg also went to Mount Sinai, where her condition had stabilized, police said.

The family of a 15-year-old girl who suffered a graze wound to her right thigh took her to University of Chicago Medical Center. She was listed in good condition, police said.

At 8:35 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the right shoulder about two blocks away in the 3300 block of West Chicago, police said. His condition had stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Police said the shootings weren’t thought to be related.

Late Thursday morning, a man was shot in East Garfield Park.

The 18-year-old, who has documented gang ties, walked into Mount Sinai with a gunshot wound to the back at 11:11 a.m., police said. His condition wasn’t known.

About two hours earlier, a man was critically wounded when he was shot in the face in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 9:20 a.m. in the 6400 block of South King Drive. The 22-year-old man who was shot is a documented gang member, police said. He remains in critical condition at Christ Medical Center.
