A man was wounded early Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 21-year-old man was shot about 12:05 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Phillips, police said. A black car drove by and someone inside opened fire, striking the man in the knee, according to police.

While the bullet went through the man’s knee, he initially went to a friend’s house to treat his wound, but after several hours decided to seek professional medical attention, police said.

The man’s friend later took him to South Shore Hospital where his condition has since stabilized, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
