Man shot in Austin

A man was shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood on Saturday night.

About 11 p.m., the 19-year-old was on a sidewalk in the 400 block of North Laramie when two people walked up and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

He was struck in the buttocks and grazed in the right leg, Alfaro said. A friend drove him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized.

Police said the shooting victim has documented gang ties.
