Seldom is a basketball game, especially a DuPage Valley Conference one, decided in the first quarter.

But Naperville Central exploded against visiting Glenbard North in the first eight minutes Friday night, racing to a 22-4 lead and cruising to a 50-32 victory.

“The kids were ready to go,” Redhawks coach Pete Kramer said. “I thought we executed well on the offensive end and really got after it on defense, talking and just doing what we need to do. I thought we did a great job on both ends.”
