Griffin Theater to stage new version of “Titanic”

Grab a lifeboat! Griffin Theater will open its 2014-2015 season with a new version of “Titanic,” the 1997 Broadway musical by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone.

The show, with new orchestrations by Ian Weinberger, anc a cast reduced from the originsl 45 to 20, was supposed to have its pre-Broadway tryout in Toronto this summer and move to New York in the fall, but these plans have been postponed, so the Griffin production, to be directed by Scott Weinstein, with music direction by Elizabeth Doran, will be the first showcase of the revised work to be seen in a major U.S. city.
