The Glenbrook South boys hoops team plays Notre Dame on Wednesday in a sectional semifinal game.

According to what Jack Cooley has told me this year, this game at Niles North will be the biggest of his playing career. You read that right. From the same guy who already has a scholarship to Notre Dame, he considers playing with his Titan teammates as the greatest time of his life.

(Applause)

Good for him.

When I talked to him after the Titans beat Maine East for the regional title, he couldn’t contain his excitement. Cooley is 6-feet-9 and will be a major contributor for arguably the highest profile college in the country. He won’t feel the same way again, and I think he knows that.

He has close friends at Glenbrook South. Not that he won’t develop relationships at Notre Dame, but I think he understands it will be different in college.

I don’t root for anybody.

But I won’t root against Cooley and the Titans.
