A boy stabbed his teenage brother to death Wednesday morning in south suburban South Chicago Heights, police said.
Officers responded to the domestic violence incident in the 100 block of West 29th Street about 7:15 a.m., South Chicago Heights Police Chief Bill Joyce said.
Larry J. Miles, 16, was pronounced dead at his home at 8:20 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The teen was fatally stabbed by his 14-year-old brother, who was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, Joyce said.
But as of Thursday morning, charges have not been filed against the brother and the boy was released into the custody of his grandfather, Joyce said.
“There’s a couple of avenues that we need to look deeper into as a result of the interviews with family and witnesses,” Joyce said.
Police did not release a motive for the attack as the investigation continues.
