SHARE Report: Patriots locker room attendant took balls from officials’ locker room

Deflate-Gate took yet another sharp turn Monday with a report from FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer that a Patriots’ locker room attendant took footballs from the officials’ locker room to another part of the stadium.

Here’s what Glazer’s sources told him:

Sources tell @FOXSports the NFL has zeroed in on a locker room attendant w Patriots who allegedly took balls from officials locker room to another area on way to field. Sources say they have interviewed him and additionally have video. Still gauging if any wrong doing occurred with him but he is strong person of interest

What does it all mean?

Well, not a whole lot, really. If the Patriots did, in fact, cheat, it wasn’t going to be Tom Brady or Bill Belichick sneaking footballs away to deflate them.

As former NFL quarterback Mark Brunell pointed out after the Brady press conference last week, it’s very unlikely an equipment manager would deflate footballs without being told to do so.

“I did not believe what Tom had to say,” Brunell said. “Those balls were deflated. Somebody had to do it. And don’t believe there’s an equipment man in the NFL that would, on his own initiative, deflate a ball without his starting quarterback’s approval,” Brunell said before he started to get emotional. “I just didn’t believe what Tom Brady had to say.”
