If your New Year’s resolution has anything to do with getting fit, the Chicago Park District says it can help you start off on a frugal foot.

Access to classes, pools and equipment at any of the park district’s 72 fitness centers is free until Jan. 11, according to a statement. Free pool access is offered only during lap swim sessions, the park district said.

The fitness centers’ “state-of-the-art” equipment includes computerized treadmills, cross trainers, upright and recumbent bicycles and core-focused weight equipment, the park district said.

Class choices range from aquatic aerobics and cycling to yoga and kickboxing, the park district said. Each location may offer different courses.

“We hope to inspire Chicagoans to get active,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Mike Kelly in the statement. “The wide range of options we offer allow people at all fitness levels to find the right workout.”

Registration is required. More information on class schedules is available at http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/wellness.
