Minor league sports is big business in the Chicago suburbs, and it’s a business the Bulls are soon to break into. The Bulls are expected to announce Wednesday that they will be starting their own NBA Developmental League team.

The team released a statement today that they would be holding a press conference Wednesday for a team announcement. That announcement is widely being reported as the Bulls plans to host a D-League team in Hoffman Estates at the Sears Centre.

The Bulls would be the 20th team in the NBA to start their own D-League team. They are jumping on the trend of keeping their team close to the big league team. This would allow the Bulls to quickly shuffle players back and forth in case of injury or roster changes. The Sears Centre is roughly an hour and a half from the United Center.
