A 79-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Gary, Indiana, on Tuesday night.

About 6:15 p.m., Willie Hill was struck by a late model Pontiac Bonneville that was heading southbound in the 4200 block of Broadway, according to Gary police.

Hill, of the 5400 block of Madison Street in Merrillville, was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake, where he was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. from blunt force trauma, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with Gary police. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Sgt. Greg Wolf at (219) 881-1210.
