Two people shot in Burnham

Two people were shot Wednesday morning in south suburban Burnham.

At 1:20 a.m., police responded to a call of shots fired in the 2300 block of East State Street and found a woman with a gunshot wound to the lower back, according to a statement from Burnham police. She was taken to a trauma center in Oak Lawn.

Police were later told that another gunshot victim was at Ingalls Hospital in Harvey.

Both victims’ injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

“The investigation is at this time is convoluted and on-going with interviews being conducted with victims, witnesses and suspects,” according to the statement.
