Woman shot to death in her home in Portage

A woman died Wednesday morning after she was shot inside her home in northwest Indiana.

Tiera Thomas, 31, died at Methodist Hospital Northlake in Gary at 8:21 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

Thomas suffered multiple gunshot wounds at her home in the 5900 block of Old Porter Road in Portage, Indiana, according to the coroner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide.

A spokesman for the Portage Police Department was not immediately available for comment.
