Woman shot in Brighton Park

A 26-year-old woman was shot Wednesday afternoon in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The shooting happened in the 2800 block of West 39th Place about 2:35 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

The woman was sitting in a parked vehicle when someone approached and shot her in the upper right arm. She was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

A police source said the victim is a felon and a documented gang member.
