Chicago Police are warning South Side residents of nearly 20 home burglaries in the last month in the South Shore neighborhood.

The burglaries usually happen in an area from 76th Street to 79th Street, between Yates and Colfax, according to police.

The first burglary happened Oct. 21 in the 7600 block of South Phillips Avenue, and the most recent was reported on Nov. 14 in the 7700 block of South Kingston.

The burglars break in through windows and doors during all hours of the day and night, according to police. A description of the suspects was not provided.

Residents are advised to notify landlords of windows or common areas in need of repair, to only grant entrance to authorized guests who “buzz into” homes, and to notify someone if going out of town.
