Two men who allegedly used a sledgehammer to smash through a wall to get into a Southwest Side beauty store were interrupted before they could finish the crime.

A 3-foot hole had been smashed in the rear wall of Star Beauty, 3258 W. 87th St., by the time police arrived early Saturday morning responding to call of a burglary in progress.

Four men ran away. After a brief chase, police arrested two of them, prosecutors said Sunday in a bond hearing.

Jolicious Turman, 24, and Patrick Peterson, 34, were both charged with attempted burglary.

A merchandise room was on the other side of the wall, prosecutors said.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas set $25,000 bail on Sunday for each man.
