A man was shot Monday morning in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.

The 25-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 800 block of West 54th Street about 9:30 a.m. when someone got out of a silver car and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the right leg and was taken in good condition to St. Bernard Hospital, police said.

The shooter got back in the silver car after the shooting and took off.

Police said the victim is a documented gang member and the shooting is thought to be gang-related.
