A 19-year-old man was shot to death Saturday afternoon in west suburban Aurora.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired found Daniel Sanchez with multiple gunshot wounds in an industrial area in the 600 block of South Elmwood Drive at 12:05 p.m., according to a statement from Aurora police.

He was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, then airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, police said.

“Investigators have little to go on except for witnesses saying a vehicle was heard leaving the area at a high rate of speed just after the shots were fired,” police said.

“A definite motive has not been established but evidence culled at the scene has led detectives to not rule out narcotics involvement.”

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at (630) 256-5500 or crime stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
