While Blake Shelton had hinted via Twitter over the weekend, he made official Monday, confirming he will host the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards.

The singer made the announcement on the “Today” show during an interview with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, joking that by hosting the ceremony he’ll show the target audience, “This is the best you can hope for.”

The Kids’ Choice Awards next year will air on Nickelodeon on March 12.

Shelton explained that he had pushed his agent to book him to host the popular show, admitting, “I want to do this thing with kids. It’s fun. I wanna get slimed.”

Actually, that has already happened. At the end of the “Today” segment, they aired a promotional clip showing Shelton getting slimed in one of the chairs from his musical reality show “The Voice.”

This year, the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards were hosted by Nick Jonas.
