For De La Salle Institute’s eighth annual “Great Futures Gala,” the historic Chicago school has lured former Chicagoan Ginger Zee back to town to emcee the festivities.

Zee will host the April 17 fete at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at Water Tower Place, with funds raised to support the programs of De La Salle’s two campuses. Founded in 1889 as an independent Roman Catholic secondary school, the longtime all-male institution is now co-ed.

Today, Zee is the chief meteorologist and weather editor for ABC News and the network’s “Good Morning America.” From 2006-11 she was a meteorologist for WMAQ-Channel 5.
