Gold Coast store burglarized in early morning hours

Police are searching for someone who allegedly broke into a Gold Coast shop early Friday.

About 5 a.m., the suspect somehow entered through the front door of the business in the 0-99 block of East Oak Street, smashed displayed and took merchandise, police said.

No one was in custody as of 7:45 a.m., police said.

The Montcler boutique at 33 E. Oak St. was burglarized in a similar way in September 2014. Four men associated with the Gangster Disciples street gang were charged with that burglary and a string of others in March, totaling to a $2 million spree, authorities said.
