Elgin hairdresser scammed $6K from 94-year-old client, officials say

An Elgin hairdresser swindled a 94-year-old client out of more than $6,100, authorities said Saturday as bail for the hair stylist was set at $200,000.

Jenifer Perik, 42, used the woman’s Discover credit card to make 35 purchases between August 2014 and January 2015, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Perik got the woman’s credit card information when she used the card to pay for hairdressing, officials said.

The elderly victim contacted the police after noticing the charges.

Perik was charged with identity theft, unlawful use of a credit card, continuing a financial crime enterpris and three counts of financial institution fraud.
