A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Wednesday morning in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

Armonni Nelson was shot by a male suspect after answering the door of his home in the 9100 block of South Yates Boulevard at 7:47 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was shot in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene at 8 a.m., authorities said.

A police source said the victim was a documented gang member.
