A worker was hospitalized Monday morning after a construction accident on a barge in the Chicago River.
The 26-year-old worker’s leg was cut by two pieces of sheet metal that came together on the barge near LaSalle and Wacker at 8:30 a.m., according to Chicago Fire Department Commander Curtis Hudson.
He suffered a serious laceration to his leg, but it was not crushed, Hudson said.
The squad that responded used a basket to bring the worker to from the barge to land, then he was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Hudson said. His condition has stabilized.
