A man was shot and critically wounded Monday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The man, 26, was riding a bicycle in the 7100 block of South Winchester about 10:50 p.m. when a male walked out of a gangway nearby and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the back and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
