Well played, Cardinals fan. Well played.

The Cubs and Cardinals are longtime rivals, but are united in rooting against Pittsburgh. So after Chicago topped the Pirates on Sunday, it was good news for both teams. Naturally, the Cubs’ Twitter account decided to put aside the rivalry, and asked for a virtual fist bump.

The Cardinals never responded, but this fan did:

Ouch! As it was put by Stlmag.com, the fan managed to reciprocate the Cubs’ sportsmanlike attempt at civility while not-so-subtly shoving more than a century’s worth of success in their faces.

Props to the Cubs for taking the joke in stride.
